Melissa Curry

Melissa Curry launched her international career with a widely celebrated Jewelry collection at Paris Fashion Week in 1999, following quickly from her debut exhibition at L’eclaireur boutique, Paris. Melissa’s dynamic and sculptural jewelry became the spearhead for London’s Liberty millennium campaign, catapulting Melissa’s designs onto the shelves of trend-setting fashion boutiques in London, Paris, New York and Tokyo – while her inimitable style and creative vision attracted international brands such as Absolut, Swarovski, Toni & Guy ( Natalia Campaign ), Phillipe Stark @ Bon, all of whom commissioned her to collaborate on one-off projects that unified branding with fresh and exciting concepts, narrative and visionary drive.

Melissa is influenced by world events as well as personal and cultural history. Her designs reflect a variety of moods, from the ancient power of China, to the romance of film, and the mystic of Celtic mythology and tribalism. Her Smarties Collection is her interpretation of the need for hope and endurance, designed during the Obama Presidential Campaign and presented to Michelle Obama during her state visit in Ireland last year.

Her timeless elegance and playful mix of texture and colour are always a feature in Melissa`s design work. Her love of narrative and response to film are beautifully executed in the DAIS triology, www.dais.ie. Born of an original concept by Sonya Lennon and Christian Ammann the project showcases the international success of Irish fashion designers through the medium of film. Melissa’s sculptural design work drawn from her Celtic roots are featured alongside Philip Tracey, Simone Rocha and Sharon Wacob.

Melissa was chosen to create a collection for a dear friend of The Duchess of Cambridge at The Royal Wedding. Her collection “Midnight Royale’ was worn to the Buckingham Palace celebration.

The “Success“ collection by Melissa Curry is aimed at encouraging women to strive for success in life and work. Whether starting a new job, changing careers, expecting a baby, leaving school or getting married the “Success” amulet acts as a gentle reminder to inspire the wearer, to help them focus on their strengths and to recognise what they have done to get to where they are at a moment in time. It also acts as a further reminder to believe in oneself and encourages the wearer to trust in their hopes and dreams. A wonderfully positive affirmation to a friend or oneself.
